Bioinformatics
or computational biology, as it is also known, allows researchers
to sift through the massive data setsthat are accumulating
from activities such as the Human Genome Project, and to identify
information of interest. Without this analysis, finding useful
information within a dataset would take an extremely long
time!
To meet the increasing demand for computational
biology skills in Canada, the CGDN presents the Canadian Bioinformatics
Workshops (CBW). CBW is a series of short practical workshops
that provides a comprehensive introduction to the methodology
and algorithms that underlie successful development and application
of bioinformatics tools and software. A Certificate in Bioinformatics
is offered to individuals who successfully complete the Bioinformatics
workshop, and two of the follow-on workshops.
The 2006 CBW course schedule is found below:
Bioinformatics - Toronto
February 13th - 25th, 2006
Genomics - Vancouver
